#EndPreeclampsia has partnered with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network - ACS CAN to champion in support of legislation for biomarker testing. Scientists have discovered biomarkers in blood that can help establish a diagnosis or alert a clinician to a patient's increased risk for a disease. This legislation, if passed, will require insurance companies and Medicaid to pay for biomarker testing (special blood tests). A biomarker test that has been used to predict preeclampsia in Europe for many years is currently awaiting approval in the USA. This legislation is significant and timely to our population, too.
Similar legislation has recently been passed in #RhodeIsland, and other states will follow. This specific bill is for those in #MAINE!
